Rory MacDonald

Welterweight MMA Fighter


Rory is a Canadian mixed martial artist currently signed with the Bellator MMA in the welterweight division. He is a former UFC top contender who obtained an overall record of (9-4) with the promotion and also a former King of the Cage Lightweight Champion.

MacDonald started his training with David Lea at age of 14. He moved to Montreal and joined Tristar Gym, home of former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre, after his loss to Carlos Condit.MacDonald made his professional debut at the age of sixteen winning against Terry Thiara at an Extreme Fighting Challenge event.MacDonald was signed to the UFC after compiling a 9-0 professional record.

On August 26, 2016, MacDonald signed a contract with Bellator MMA. After a year of not competing in the cage, Rory said he worked hard to hone his skills to come back stronger. He also had a child, and was taking on new father responsibilities.

Rory has fought all out wars in the cage, and is no stranger to pain and blood. Rory’s drive to win is immeasurable, fighting through injuries of all sorts. His experience in martial arts and comfort in the cage is part of what makes Rory such a dominant fighter.
