INTRODUCING RAYMOND BIGGS JR.
Words: Kyle Henry Photo: Chad Griffith
Raymond Biggs Jr. had as legit an amateur career as you’ll find. He won a total of four Golden Gloves championships two in New York and two in Wisconsin and at one point was ranked No. 2 nationally with a 98-12 record. And then he started over. Sure, the Golden Gloves are nice to wear around your neck, but one loss early in your pro career is all it takes in boxing for the skeptics to cast their doubts. So far so good for Biggs. His
pro career has launched with the success expected by his supporters. At press time, the 25-year-old light middleweight/welterweight is currently 6-0, with five of his wins coming by knockout. But Biggs is more than just powerful. He is skilled and sleek and showcases an in-ring maturity that most young professionals don’t have. His father, Raymond Biggs Sr., who also doubles as Raymond Jr.’s trainer in the Duva Boxing camp, has seen his share of great ones, and likes what he sees in his son.
